Car Insurance Pontiac (Car Insurance). 96 mustang alarm hookup?

96 mustang alarm hookup? I hooked up my alarm but the doors wont lock with key got to do it threw the switch. Im not sure how to tie in the locks with the alarm

Security system has nothing to do with your problem. If you can't lock the door with a key, you have a disconnected lock linkage inside the door panel. Remove the inside door panel and look for the loose linkage. Re insert the link and snap the lock clip retainer. The retainer may have broken, in which case it needs to be replaced to prevent the link from coming apart again. Take a good look at everything while you have the panel off to take care of any other issues while your in there.

Pontiac . Cylinder ridge in a 2-stroke vs a 4-stroke?

Cylinder ridge in a 2-stroke vs a 4-stroke? Last year I rebuilt the motor in my 1963 tractor, there was a ridge in each of the cylinders that I had to ream out in order to remove the pistons. I had never rebuilt an engine before. I very recently picked up an outboard motor (Evinrude, 25 horse, 1983 model). The head gasket is blown. I've removed the head and felt around within the cylinder. There is no ridge whatsoever that I can feel with my fingers. Do 2 stroke engines have less of a ridge than 4 stroke engines? I'm trying to guesstimate how many hours are on the outboard. Only paid $23 for it, and have spent $60 for a battery, $4 for plugs, $10 for gas/oil, and will spend another $50 for a new head gasket, head top gasket, and thermostat. car insurance.

Pontiac . How to Remove a Manual Shifter Knob

Most knobs come prefabricated to meet your original specs, while others have universal adapter kits to fit most mounting styles. Whether you're looking for the high-performance look or just removing your original knob for maintenance or repairs, your vehicle may be very specific to how the knob is fastened. Most knobs are pressure fitted, screwed in, or slipped on with a locking set screw. If you can't find factory specs for your vehicle, here are a few suggestions to help you get in gear.
Difficulty:Easy
Instructions Things You'll Need
Small hex key set
Strap wrench
Small screwdriver
Small needle nose pliers

Step by Step :
1
Consult the nearest parts jobber or dealership specific to your vehicle. Most suppliers behind the counter will offer up helpful information. If you already purchased an aftermarket shifter knob, follow the instructions. On-line suppliers may be useful, and forums specific to your make and model are buzzing with fellow enthusiasts eager to pitch in.
2
Ensure the ignition is off, and the car is parked in neutral with the parking brake on.
3
Examine around and below the shifter knob for screws or clips.
4
Unscrew the small hex screw, if you see one. The knob will lift off. Clips are generally tucked under a ring, and you can remove them with the screwdriver tip or pliers once exposed. If there are no screws or clips, the knob may be threaded. See Step 5 for thread mounted procedures.
5
Grip the knob, and turn it counterclockwise to see if it loosens, signifying it is screwed on. It will unscrew, and come off without a problem. If it doesn't loosen, or move at all, then it was pressure fitted. See Step 6.
6
Grip the knob, and pull upward forcefully, yet cautiously. If it suddenly comes off, you might jolt upwards or backwards and harm yourself or the vehicle. If the knob doesn't come off after repeated attempts, see Step 7.
7
Decide at this point how badly you want to keep the original knob. Many shifters have a spline at the top so the knob won't turn. The next method, and last resort, might strip, or permanently damage, the knob. Some enthusiasts have actually cut them off. If you have already planned on a replacement, this won't be a problem.
8
Position the strap wrench around the knob, and lock it into place. Pull it towards you, turning it counterclockwise, in case it is threaded and on too tight. If not, use the strap wrench to pry the knob back and forth, until it's loose enough to pull up and off.
Tips & Warnings
Removal might be easier if the car has been sitting in the sun. The heat will

contribute to loosening any plastic inserts.

Use manual pulling force only. Do not hammer, pry or use leverage in attempts to remove the knob. The shifter is still attached to your gearbox.

Pontiac . How to Flush a 700R4 Transmission

Flushing the transmission fluid on a 700 R4 transmission is a highly recommended procedure. Most lube shops have a fully automated machine that can perform the task in only a few minutes. It's possible to do at home; however, the results will not be as thorough as the machine version. On the plus side, however, some new car manufacturers include the procedure outlined here in their service manuals, so it is a valid process.
Difficulty:Moderate
Instructions Things You'll Need
Drain pan
Flair wrench

Step by Step :
1
Raise the hood of the car and place the drain pan directly underneath the transmission oil-cooler lines that are running to the radiator. Slightly loosen the bottom line with a flair nut wrench but do not completely remove the line from the radiator.
2
Start the car and let it idle. Fluid will drip at a fast rate from the fitting. If it is too loose, transmission fluid will spray around the engine compartment. It is better to start with the fitting fairly tight and loosen it accordingly until an ideal discharge rate is achieved.
3
Run the car until 7 or 8 qts. of fluid have discharged. The maximum capacity is nearly twelve quarts so this leaves a good safety margin. No gears are engaged during this process, so there is little chance of damaging the clutch plates or bands inside the transmission.
4
Tighten the bottom fitting and refill the transmission with fresh transmission fluid. Start the car and let it idle. Operate the gears then set the gear selector to park. Recheck the fluid level when the car is at operating temperature and adjust it until it reaches the "Full when hot" mark on the dipstick.

Alien (or hex) ufrenches Some of the screws or fastenings on your vehicle may have odd-shaped holes in the centers of their heads that require special Allen wrenches — L-shaped rods that fit into the holes (see Figure 2-7). If the center hole is hexagonal, the wrench you need is sometimes called a hex wrench. You can buy a set of assorted-sized Allen wrenches for under $15. Part I: Getting Started. Figure 2-7: Allen wrenches. Socket Frenches A good set of socket wrenches, shown in Figure 2-8, can really make the difference between enjoying your work and killing yourself over it. Socket wrenches come in sets for a wide variety of prices, depending on quality and how many there are in the set. Sets can include either a mix of SAE and metric sockets, all SAE, or all metric pieces. Unless you've decided to become a mechanic, you can buy an inexpensive set of basic socket wrenches suitable for your vehicle for less than $25. .Chapter 2: The Way to Your Car's Heart Is through Your Toolbox 2 7 Your set of socket wrenches should contain the following basic items: A variety of K-inch or %-inch drive heads or sockets: The #-inch, %-inch, and %-inch sockets are the ones you'll use the most, unless you need a metric set. The metric sizes most often used are 10,11,12,13, and 14 mm. The word drive refers to the size of the square hole in each socket where it attaches to the ratchet handle. It's easy to remember that the smaller the drive, the smaller the job you use it for. A X-inch drive is for tiny areas; %-inch drive is for the next range of sizes, typically up to SAE % or 18 mm metric; &-inch drive is for up to SAE IK, or up to 25 mm; and other drives up to 2 inches are for really big jobs (you won't need one of these monsters). You can use adapters to convert sockets of one drive to fit handles of another drive. A spark plug socket: This is the large socket with a soft lining to hold the spark plug securely without damaging its soft jacket when you remove and insert it, or when you drop it on the floor by mistake. Spark plugs come in two sizes, so make sure to get the size that fits the spark plugs in your car. Your owner's manual may note the spark plug size. At least one ratchet handle, to which you can fit any of the sockets: Most sets have two or three handles with at least one adapter. You may want to add additional adapters to extend the handle to different sizes and adapt it to different drives. Figure 2-9 shows the wide variety of sockets, handles, and adapters available. J -Rachet adapter R -Universal joint Part I: Getting Started. A flex-head handle: Although not strictly necessary, a flex-head handle is very useful. It enables you to hold the ratchet handle at any angle when working in tight places — and engines are full of tight places! Socket extenders: These indispensable items help you get your socket head way down into the bowels of your engine compartment to reach those almost-unreachable nuts and bolts. The way to tell a good socket wrench set is to look at the number of teeth in the ratchet handle. Most have 20 to 30 teeth. The really good ones have up to

Pontiac . What was most popular cars in the 1960's?

60 teeth. The more teeth the handle has, the better it can fit into tight places. This is because you have to move the handle only a few degrees to turn the nut as much as a cheaper handle would in many degrees. In other words, a ratchet handle with 24 teeth must be moved 15 degrees to reach its limit. A handle with 60 teeth has to be moved only 6 degrees to turn a nut as far. You can find instructions for using a socket wrench in the section called "Removing spark plugs" in Chapter 12. Torque Frenches A torque wrench, shown in Figure 2-10, is designed to tighten a nut, bolt, or screw to an exact degree. A torque wrench is extremely handy because, until

you become familiar with a job, you always run the risk of undertightening or overtightening things. If you're replacing a spark plug and you don't tighten it enough, it will work itself loose and fail to deliver a spark. If you overtighten a spark plug, you can strip the threads or crack the plug. Similarly, parts that have gaskets can leak if the bolts that hold them aren't tightened enough. But if you overtighten the same bolts, the gaskets will be crushed, causing the fluid to leak anyway. Most really good torque wrenches are expensive, but a cheaper one is good enough to serve your purposes. If you'd rather not spend the money until you're sure that you're really going to like working on your car, borrow a torque wrench just to get the feel of how tight a nut, bolt, or other part should be. Or you can just forget the whole thing. I've never used a torque wrench; my set of socket wrenches accomplished everything quite well for the work in this book.
